Wood-cock, Scolopax: Appears about old Michaelmas.

It is full as large as Scolopax Australis, but its plumage is black-banded on the back with a general shade of green.

We find also the heron, burong kuntul (ardea); the snipe, kandidi (scolopax); the coot, or water-hen, ayam ayer (fulica); and the plover, cheruling (charadrius).
